12 Day Road Trip: Day 5: Boardwalks and Burgers

When we awoke on Wednesday, Day 5, nobody was in a hurry to go anywhere.  The boys were quite content to watch the latest installment of crocodile hunter, lizards in the amazon or sharks that make you go hmmm... or whatever it was.
Wednesday morning, Mommy finally go to take the family on a morning walk on the boardwalk.
As always, the boys were happy to be out and about.
They even stopped for a few photos.
Oliver is a photographer in training and it is so nice to get some photos of Keith and I now and then.
Kellan wanted his turn with the camera as well.  It's a bit big and heavy so he has a harder time than with the little camera.

There was even some guy who walked by and took a photo of us, adding a disclaimer not to sue him if they didn't turn out.  Um... that's not really how we roll.
It was a gorgeous day on the lake.

Oliver enjoyed a nice stroll.

This is the bridge that we could see from our room and the boys had been asking to walk across since we had arrived.  It was the highlight of the boardwalk for them.

As we were on the bridge, we watched the pirate ship float by as well as the sea plane land.  There was quite a bit of activity for a Wednesday morning.

We had big plans for Day 5.  We were going to stop to see Mommy's friend in Post Falls and we were going to take a hike at Bowl and Pitcher in Spokane.  Neither thing happened.  After several fun filled days, we were ready for to arrive at Grandma and Grandpa's house, which was an hour and a half away.  We rounded up the Ham Fam and hit the road.

As we approached Spokane, we called Grandma and Grandpa to invite them to lunch.  About 13 miles south of Grandma and Grandpas house is the Clayton Drive-In with the Famous Clayton Burger.  Since Keith has been traveling with me to Washington, he has been curious as to why we don't take him to eat the famous Clayton Burger.  He thinks that we're holding out on him.  So, today was the day for Keith to finally have his very own, Wold Famous Clayton Burger

While we walked around taking tourist photos and waited for Grandma and Grandpa to arrive, Oliver found a grasshopper.
We ordered up some lunch and took a seat, where Kellan practiced his photography skills on Grandma.  It was SO good to see her, Grandpa and cousin Rio.
Finally... the time had arrived.
Keith had his World Famous Clayton Burger.
He paused for a photo,
he took a bite...
... he pondered its goodness...
... he was pleasantly surprised...
It Was GREAT!

What makes it so great besides the two hamburger patties, two strips of bacon and two pieces of cheese?  The hot dog sliced in two.
Finally, the mystery of the World Famous Clayton Burger had been resolved.  We can now all rest easy knowing that the mystery was over.

Once back at Grandpa and Grandpas house, Keith set up his working space for the rest of the week on their back porch.
It was a hot summer day, so cousin
Rio and the boys jumped for joy through the sprinkler.
I think that it was a tad cold.

With goggles on, Kellan took the slow motion approach.

With a quick exit.
Eventually, the boys decided to put the sprinkler under the trampoline.  They sent in the shortest family member to assemble the operation.
Before we knew it, they were refreshingly jumping.
All while Kellan worked on his photography skills with Grandmas camera.
Rio has some crazy jumping skills.

Oliver was quick to follow suite.

Kellan preferred the slower motion jumping.
I wish that I would have gotten this on video.  It was absolutely hilarious.  He marked around the trampoline flapping his arms like a bird.  It was SO funny!

While the jumper jumped, the others relaxed in the lounge chairs.
Life if rough for these cousins; Rio and Kellan.

After much jumping, it was finally time for some Red, White and Blue refreshment.
It was also time for Uncle Shane to come home from work.
Yet, another fantastic day.
Wow, a walk on the board walk, a clayton burger and olympic style trampoline jumping.
This vacation just keeps throwing more and more fun our way and we haven't even hit the half way point.

There just ain't anything that screams SUMMER VACATION more than a sprinkler beneath the trampoline. Nailed it!
