4th of July, 2014

Most years, we hit the road for Sheridan, WY to celebrate the 4th of July.  Since we were only a week away from leaving on our Twelve Day Road Trip, we opted to stay home.

We didn't make any big plans, but we did plan to hang out with our neighbors.  As it turned out, it was one of the best Fourth of July's.  We loved it!

We kicked it off with the neighborhood bike parade, which is lead by the local fire department.  All of the kids decorate their bikes and we chase them around the neighborhood as they chase the fire truck.

The boys and girls were all decked out and ready to ride.
Kaitlyn, Samantha, Oliver and Kellan
Oliver was fired up for the parade.
Kellan was excited to ride in the parade this year too.  The last time he was in the parade, he was riding in the wagon.  He just learned to ride the Stryder bike recently.  He's really rockin' and rollin' on it.

The two Ham Fam boys, ready to ride.
Waiting for the firetruck to lead the way.

They're Off!
See Kellan right in the middle of the photo.  Oliver is in front of him in the white shirt.  This will be the last you see of him as he soared to the front of the pack.

Back at the pavillion, we found Kellan headed straight for the food table with his eye on the cupcake.
Of course we said "yes" to the cupcake.  It was a party, plus, we knew that the odds of them being there by the time we go through the line was slim.

After the parade, we all settled in at the neighborhood pool.
Parties can be exhausting and Kellan needed a Mommy snuggle.
Not a long snuggle though.  Before long, he was back in the pool.
Oliver never really got out of the pool.
The boy is a fish!
As the storm clouds rolled in, the crowd rolled out.
We found ourselves as the only group left at the pool and it had been crowded.
We're not afraid of a little bit of distant thunder.  Yes, we got out of the pool, but we did wait to see if it was going to materialize.  While we waited, Oliver took a photo of the adults all lined up with their Eagle Eyes on the children.

Mark, Keith, Susan, Lynn, Carrie and Kellan
As the storm never arrived, the kids slowly got back in the pool.
It was awesome!  We had the pool all to ourselves, which never happens.
Samantha and Oliver had the entire big pool to themselves, which never happens either.  I would love to show the blog readers, but this hot hunk photo bombed the picture.
Get out of the way, hot hunk!

Here are our cutie pie kids in a huge pool all by themselves.
Oliver and Samantha love hanging out and really loved having a private pool party.
From across the pool, this is what our party looked like.
Love It!
Then.... look at the clouds above us.  Off in the distance, the rain was pouring down.  We kept a close eye to the sky.
After awhile, the skies continued to look gray so we headed home for some R&R before dinner and fireworks.  It was perfect timing as the skies opened up and we too received a huge downpour of rain.
The Pomponios hosted dinner, which included ribs that Mark and Keith had been smoking in Keith's smoker all day.  It is such a huge advantage to have such awesome neighbors.  For dinner parties, it's almost like an extension of one house to another.

The "little kids" on one side of the table.
Kaitlyn (4 almost 5) and Kellan (3 almost 4).
Aren't they the cutest?!
Cutest until you look at the other side of the table and their siblings give them a run for their cutest vote.
Samantha and Oliver (both 6 almost 7, both in October).
Poor Samantha had a crash with a big rock which left her a little bruised up.  She's a tough chica and she was ok.
Aren't these two Cute Too?!

That night, we went to Golden for their fireworks.  We packed snacks, chairs, blankets, glow sticks, pop-its and no camera.  Yes, I know, it's a crisis :(

The fireworks were awesome.  We had a great view and it was a perfect ending to the perfect Fourth of July celebration.
Thanks for a great day, Pomponio family!
Happy Independence Day America!
