Flag Football Championship Game

The final day of spring flag football arrived and the Dragons were playing for the championship.  Their opponents had one loss in the season and it was by two points to the Dragons.  It wasn't going to be an easy win.
In the first play, the opponents got the ball and had an immediate touchdown.  Then, they had another touchdown, both times, they got the extra points.  Then, the Dragons got a touchdown, but missed the extra points.  This was followed by another touchdown with the extra points.  Going into half-time, they were down by two; but who's counting?
When the team came to the sidelines, the overwhelming question was if we were winning? or the statement that we were winning?  Overwhelmingly, the responses the kids got from parents were the same as what I told Oliver. "It's a close game.  It's not going to be an easy win so you're going to have to work hard, listen to your coach and pay attention."  When the coaches rallied the team, it was the same conversation.
The game was so amazing and all of the boys and one girl played their best game.  The focus, determination, ambition and drive was endless.  They truly are an example of teamwork and that they will win as a team.
I have never been so nervous and excited to watch one of Oliver's games.  We loved each and every second of it.  It was so great, that I'm not sure if this touchdown by Oliver came before or after half time, but it was a touchdown and we were Fired Up!
GO, Oliver, GO!!
Not all times of possession end in a touch down.
Every possession ends in success.  Either in progressing the the ball down the field, honing in your skills or both.
Plus, these photos are for Grandma.  She requested action shots, so if this isn't action, she'll just have to fly down here to take the photos herself. :)

They Got-Cha
On the sidelines, it was all smiles.
On the field, it was all smiles.
Kellan got his hot his hands on a team ball and was warming up for fall of 2014.
This next play, I know for a fact was near the end of the game.  It may have been the last play of the game.  Everything was a blur of excitement after this play.
First, Owen got the hike.
Next, he passed it to Oliver
Oliver caught the ball and took off.
He Ran passed the offensive line. (there is no blocking, so the offensive line hangs back)
Then he turned his attention to the defense.
He took on the defense head on.
He secured the ball.
He took off like a rocket and ran it in for a touchdown.
The crowd went WILD! (ok.. Mommy and Daddy went wild)
Nana and Papa were visiting and they had the opportunity to see this amazing game.
It was THE BEST GAME EVER!!!
