Big Boy Bed

The time has come.
We have been talking for months that soon, Kellan will need a big boy bed.
We bought his bedding so that we could coordinate the walls that we painted, months ago.
We were going buy a new bed, build a new bed and then decided to convert his crib.
We were going to buy new rails, weeks ago.
Then after some research, we discovered that they were expensive, took forever to be delivered and didn't have good reviews.  Keith also discovered that there were bed rails in the garage rafters that the former home owners had left behind.  They were king size, but completely convertible with a little help from Grand Dad's saw in the garage.
Surely, this would be a great weekend project, for most people.
For Keith, it was a "quick" evening project.
On an evening that Carrie was at a work function until late.
When Carrie came home from work at nearly 9:00, the crib was torn apart, Keith was frantically working, the boys were running around naked and the water in the tub had turned cold.
The boys were happy, so the bath water was warmed up and they were tossed in.  After baths, Keith had the bed together, the finishing touches were added and Kellan officially had a big boy bed.
He was over-the-moon, thrilled.
He couldn't wait to launch onto the bed and JUMP, JUMP, JUMP!
He was SO excited that he didn't even get dressed.
He was SO excited that his friend Mickey was there for the big event.
Before we knew it, both boys in their PJ's were Jump, Jump, Jumping on the new bed.
Good thing Daddy put in a few extra screws to hold the bed together a little extra tighter than originally planned.
Really, is there anything better than jumping on a big new bed?
As the time was getting very late, it was time to wind down, but not without a few photos.
The boys were quick to snuggle in near the head of the bed for the first official photos of Kellan in his new bed.
Without a doubt, Mickey had to have a perfect seat.

Oliver, Kellan and Mickey; lovin' the new bed.
Daddy jumped in for some new bed snuggle action.
Kellan and his guys.
Kellan and his snugglers; Mommy, Oliver and Mickey.
Kellan and Daddy carefully picked out books for the first night of reading in the new bed (and not in the rocking chair).
Kellan is all snuggled in and looks so tiny in his big bed.
It reminded me of the first time I saw Oliver in his big boy bed and how little he looked.
Such a happy boy to be in his big boy bed.
Next up, potty training.
Except, he is a big boy of convenience.  He is a big boy when it comes to his bed, but he claims that he's still a baby who poops in his diapers.  Well... he's a man who knows who he is.
We'll work on that baby identity.
