Anderson Farms 2011

'tis the season to drive North to Anderson Farms.  Like years past, we had great weather.  Unlike years past, there was a chill of fall in the air instead of a linger of summer heat.  We met the Hess family there and had a great time.
This year, Oliver was big enough to take on the pedal go-carts.
Daddy gave him a push to get going.
Then he was off and racing.
Meanwhile, Kellan held up the fence around the race track perimeter.

While we waited for the Hess family to arrive, Oliver also took his turn on the hay bail maze.
Hey, cheeter cheeter!  No jumping bails to find your way out!

There were also John Deere looking trikes for the little tykes.
Keith and Oliver played king of the tires!

Then Oliver lassoed his first bull.
Since Oliver, Evelyn and Freddie are all a bit older now, they took on the barrel train solo.  (Mom's and Dad's were happy all around)
Driver, Evelyn, Oliver, Freddie and other people we don't know.

Oliver was so comfortable he had an elbow out the window.
Jonny and Kellan watched on from a nearby perch.
Round and Round they go.  When they'll stop, nobody knows.
The driver went in so many circles I got dizzy watching.  Of course, the kids loved it!
Then we went on a bigger wagon style train ride with the whole family through the corn fields.

We have learned from years past and packed a picnic lunch.
Keith and Kellan were all smiles for lunch time.
Oliver was having a GREAT time!  The big kids were quick to eat and head off to play on the wooden train play structure.
Keith always loves a great conversation with his buddy Geoff.  There is typically a lot of technical descriptions and hand gestures.  Whatever it was, Kellan was highly entertained.
Someone loves their Daddy.
Someones Daddy is denying that there is PDA (public display of affection).
Back to the technical conversation and hand gestures.
As always, the ponies are a big hit.
Oliver may just be a natural.
Get-a-long little pony.
You can't tell from these pictures but Oliver picked the tallest horse of the bunch.  What can we say?  The boy loves horses!

Then, we were off on the tractor ride to the pumpkin fields.  Our first stop was to feed the cows.  This mama cow had just had twins!
Jonny and his Daddy Geoff enjoyed watching the cows from the wagon while the big kids fed them treats.
Out in the pumpkin patch, Kellan enjoyed digging around in the dirt while his brother found the perfect pumpkin.

Jackpot!
Oliver found the perfect pumpkin that was the perfect size.
Even though it was the perfect size, it was still heavy after a while.
Hey, maybe it would be easier to carry it on his head?

Two for Jonny?  How about THREE!
Every year we take a moment to appreciate the Oliver tractor that takes us to the pumpkin patch.
Evelyn was very proud of her pumpkin find.
Over in the distance, another tractor and wagon arrived with the gorgeous snow covered rocky mountains in the background.

Kellan carefully inspected that the wagon was adequate to transport his pumpkin.
Oliver carefully pulled the pumpkins.  A job he takes very seriously.

Quick, a photo before we go!
All of the kids: Freddie, Jonny, Kellan, Evelyn and Oliver.

Anderson Farms has numerous pumpkin displays that are great.

After a great time at Anderson farms, we headed back to the cars to head home.  After a long walk to the parking lot Oliver announced that he had to pee.  There are certain perks to being a young boy.
Thanks to the Hess family for yet another great time at Anderson Farms.  Surely, 2012 will once again go off without a hitch.
