Hamiltons in Hawaii - Day 8

Hamiltons in Hawaii
and the Series of Unfortunate Events
Day 8 -  Friendly Skies Await Us

On our last morning, the boys enjoyed their last breakfast in Maui at the bar in our condo.  It was a traditional last day breakfast of whatever was left in the refrigerator.  Also known as leftovers.
Oliver was decorated in lizard tattoos for his return trip home.
Like many babies or toddlers, Kellan has a fascinating with toilet paper rolls.  On our last morning we found him in the bathroom squeezing the charmin.
Our flight back to San Fransisco landed right at nap time, and the boys were eager to take advantage of the quiet time on the plane.
For the first time ever, we tried a trick that many parents have used before.  We laid Kellan on the airplane floor.  After wiggling for a moment or two, he settled right in.
Oliver had woken up and he was very excited to watch the in-flight movie.  He even denied his personal DVD player for the in-flight option.  With Kellan sleeping, we ALL got to watch the ENTIRE movie!  Oliver even got an entire can of apple juice all to himself.
While we enjoyed the movie, Kellan napped on.  He slept four of the five hour flight.
To avoid the night time flight to Denver, we opted to fly to San Francisco during the day and spend the night.  Believe it or not, this option also saved us $100 per person per total airfare.

Unfortunate Event: To round out our theme of Unfortunate Events, we ended on one.  I had booked and paid for our non-refundable hotel in advance to get the best deal and save $20.  Friday morning (hours before our flight) I called to confirm they would have a crib for Kellan and they did not have our reservation.  After some research we discovered that I had booked the room for Thursday night (previous day) and not Friday.  Since I had spent numerous hours searching for a good price in a hotel we liked with a free shuttle and free breakfast, I booked an additional night and deemed it the perfect ending to a crazy week.

After a great night sleep, the kids loaded on the airport shuttle and were up for the task of another flight home.
It is times like these that makes me take a moment to notice how big our boys are getting.
Last but not least: HUGE Thank You to Nana and Papa for taking us along on a Maui vacation.  Next time, we're going to pick a different theme that has nothing to do with Unfortunate Events.  Maybe it will be a vacation with Once Upon a Time, Happily Ever After, Fun in the Sun or maybe even the Hills will be Alive with the Sound of Music.
We love you and Thank you!
