This summer we were in for a real treat, Pat Green was playing at Red Rocks. We have seen him once before at the Grizzly Rose and now we had the privilege to see him under a clear sky and full moon just weeks before our five year anniversary.
Not a great shot since it was on my phone camera, but this is the stage from where we were. For those of you who know Red Rocks, we were right behind the sound guy, literally. We used the sound guys roof to hold our beer.
Now for the rest of the story...
Pat Green was not the headliner, he was the second in line... whatever that is called. The headliner was Darius Rucker. Have you ever heard of Darius Rucker? We had not, but we thought we would stick around and check him out since it was part of the show and he must be a big act since he is the head liner. (Keep in mind we went to a Stevie Nicks concert just to see Chris Isaak open for her. She may have been the headliner, but her show was terrible!!!) The first song out, I tell Keith "this guy sounds like Hootie and the Blowfish". Four songs in, he starts a song by saying it was the first song he wrote in 1989 and it was a hit in 1994. It was "Let Her Cry" by Hootie and the Blowfish. Hmm.... is this guy a writer that sold his song to Hootie? NO..... He IS Hootie!!!! That's right, we essentially went to a Hootie and the Blowfish concert with a country twang. Thanks to iPhone technology, Keith googled Darius Rucker at the concert and we discovered that he was the lead singer to Hootie and the Blowfish but he is trying to make a name for himself in the country realm. Crazy! Huh?
