Baseball Minors

Last year, Oliver gave t-ball a try.  It was a bit of a painful season as he wasn't really into it and we weren't either.  There was no score so for this competitive family, that was no fun.  (We know... it's not the point at this age, but it sure makes it more thrilling).

We committed to trying machine pitch this year to give baseball another chance.  So far it is SO much better.  He is playing in the Machine Pitch Minors League.

I forgot my camera on Oliver's first game  (shocker, I know).  I grabbed the camera bag, but the camera was in the travel case from our trip to Texas.

So, on the second baseball game I double checked my equipment bag.

Not only is Oliver playing baseball, but his Daddy is an assistant coach.  WIth all of the initial moans and groans of being too busy to get Oliver to practice, once he got roped into being the assistant coach the moans and groans have stopped and now he actually is excited for Monday and Wednesdays from 5-6 PM for practice and games every Saturday afternoon.  Yes, our schedules are a bit out of control with all of this sporting fun.

Keith warmed up for the pitch.
Coach Eric gave Oliver a few last second stance instructions.
He had the perfect stance.
After a few pitches, he got a base hit!
(last week, he didn't get any hits (probably because I forgot my camera) so this is huge progress)
Safe on base.
"Hey Mommy!"
Kellan got cozy with his new Best Spectator Friends, Emerson and Evan.  I think they play dueling iPads and iPhones.
Oliver is "Baseball Ready", as the coaches call it.

Even in the Minor's, you have to make adjustments.
Yes, I took a photo and yes I'm posting it.
Back in Baseball Ready.
Once again, Oliver was up to bat.
Once again, he got a base hit!
Way to go, Big Guy, you're SAFE!
While Oliver watched on, his Daddy kept the pitches coming.
Oliver took second.
Then he went for third.
Then he came home and scored for his team, the Redhawks!!
Wahoo!!!
Way to go, Oliver!
We are so proud of you!
Oliver and his buddy Owen, having some fun in the dugout.
The Redhawks are off to a great season with two wins under their belts.
So far so good with the trend of Baseball.  We'll see how the season plays out, but this may be a seasonal reoccurrence.
