Marvelous Monday in Florida

What an amazing place we are finding Longboat Key to be.  It is the exact vacation we were looking for.
Each morning, we have breakfast on our private patio that over looks the lagoon and golf course.  It is just below our main level.  There has only been one family next to us and they were only here a few days.  We hardly see anyone back here.
Oliver has enjoyed the mornings with breakfast on the patio and some quiet time with his Spiderman Coloring Book.
Kellan and his Daddy

We thought Kellan would benefit for a long morning nap so I stayed back with him.  Keith and Oiver headed off to the beach.  Oliver is turning out to be one major beach bum.  He loves it!
Headed out to the water.  The biggest reason that I posted this picture is because it captured the love bugs flying just over Olivers shoulder.  These bugs were EVERYWHERE!!  Tuesday was the worst day.  They literally chased everyone off of the beach in the afternoon.  Fortunately, they dramatically improved over the next two days and toward the end of the week they were nearly gone.  Oliver likes to pick them up off our upper patio and toss them over the edge.  We have heard from several locals that the love bug invasion was the worst most of them have ever seen.

Ahhh... life's a beach under the hot florida sun and the shade of the umbrella
Kellan and I made it.  You'll see my evidence that I somehow missed sunscreen on my back the day before.  Oops!  Kellan is still not a fan of the beach.

Oliver couldn't be more comfortable on the beach.
Ahh... finally getting acclimated to the beach.

Then, the camera battery died.

The next few photos are from my phone.

Kellan wondering if he can get to the sand and put it in his mouth.
He made it.  First agenda item, sand in his mouth.

I took this photo to send to my Mom.  Sand and dirt drive me a bit nuts and I was dying to clean him off.  I held off and let Kellan be a kid in the dirt.

He's off and crawling across the beach.  As my Uncle Joe put it, like a sand crab.
Days at the beach guarantee a good solid nap.  We try to get both boys to nap at the same time.  As the days go on, we're getting better at it.  Sometimes, they even get to nap together.
Don't worry, after I took the photos I put a barrier in place so that Oliver's wild legs didn't connect with part of Kellan.
First one up, Kellan.  Time to relax with Dad
on the upper patio.

Come on Dad.  Don't you want to share?
It's so pretty
Tuesday evening we went to dinner at Columbia.  This is a Columbian restaurant that is (supposedly) famous.  I put the boys in their best Columbian outfits.  Thanks to Oliver, Kellan has a lot of hand me downs to choose from.  You may recognize several of his outfits.
This is an attempt at a photo.  Oliver was trying to hold Kellan upright but it looks like he's trying to strangle him instead.

Oliver in St Armonds Circle, on our way to dinner.  These plaques were in honor of several of the Ringling Brothers Circus members.  They used to train here.

Kellan at dinner.
Ahhh... the Mojito!  It was amazing.  It was almost the only thing that was good at dinner.  The food left us highly disappointed.
Kellan ready for dinner.
If dinner isn't coming, he might as well eat his bib.
They delivered each of us our own loaf of bread.  What was the lady thinking giving Oliver an entire loaf of bread?
"Oliver, what are you doing with that bread?  Don't put the loaf in your mouth.  Break off pieces."

The Cuban Crackers were choke free.  They were hard and Kellan couldn't get his chompers into them.
Such a happy boy.
Family photo, Tuesday attempt.
Back in St Armonds Circle, Oliver found a chain that was broken and it bothered him.  He insisted on trying to fix it.
There are several of these trees around with bright pink flowers.
For dessert, we went for ice cream.
Yes, Kellan got to try a nibble.

Once again, see the love but near Oliver's nose.  Just a coincidence.  It didn't really land on his nose.

Cute little dangling Crocs.

Job well done, complete with a chocolate mustache and beard.  The last bite fell on the ground and a friendly dog stopped by to lick it up for Oliver.  Everyone was happy.
Another great day down.  What fun does Wednesday have in store for us?
