On September 25, 2004, we married our best friend, our best companions, our partner in life, our personal comedian, our personal advisor, our one and only everything.
Ten years later, we are celebrating our tenth wedding anniversary.
With desires to spend a week in a hut over the water in Bora Boara, Keith started his own business 9 months ago, so we down sized our celebration and spend three days in Las Vegas. All it took was Keith saying, "My favorite place to spend time with you is in Vegas." So, Vegas it was. We called in Grandma to spend some time with her Grandsons and off we went.
We flew in early Wednesday morning and spent the entire afternoon floating down the lazy river on a raft with frosty adult beverages. It was fantastic! Cameras and lazy rivers aren't usually a good combination, so photos are sparse.
Wednesday evening we headed out for our first date night of celebration.
Don't we look relaxed sans kids?
First up, dinner at one our favorite places, Mesa Grill.
We can't go to Vegas without the Mesa Grill Pork Tenderloin and Sweet Potato Tamale.
it's A-MAZ-ING!
After dinner and before the show, we took a walk to another favorite, the fountains at Bellagio.
Ironically, Keith had googled romantic ideas for Las Vegas and this was one of the top ideas.
We love it!
Between shows, we waited, chatted and took selfies.
We capped off the evening with Absinthe at Caesars Palace
We weren't sure if we would like Absinthe but we had heard great things about it.
We left saying "THAT WAS AWESOME!!!"
We LOVED it!!!
On Thursday, it was officially our anniversary. Keith delivered Starbucks and then we talked about what we should eat for lunch. That's right, we slept until lunch time. It was fantastic!!!
I had mentioned to Keith that we should track down In-n-Out while we were there. He said that for our anniversary, we could go anywhere I would like. So... we headed out in the 100+ degree heat in search of In-n-Out.
Our hike took us past New York, NY.
Out hike to In-n-Out literally took us up, over, down and around three casinos, one freeway, a few stop lights, several cross walks, a couple of bridges and a moving walk way.
Finally... we made it.
AHHH... Ice Cold Refreshment.
SOOOOO Good!!!
SOOOOO Worth the Hike!!!
Even Keith said, "Mmm this is good."
Keith isn't an In-n-Out fan, so he says. I think that his inner voice slipped out with the first bite.
SOOOOOO Happy!!!
What a great lunch.
I know, some people may have chosen something much more fancy, but who needs fancy when we can have fun traversing the not-so-obvious route to a special treat.
Our hike back was only about 20 minutes since we had taken all of the wrong turns the first time around. Before we knew it, we were back at the pool, floating on the lazy river.
For our anniversary dinner, we couldn't quite decide where to go so we stopped by the concierge for some guidance. The concierge suggested several options but when we mentioned it was our anniversary, he responded without hesitation, "crafsteak."
Dinner was fantastic!
Our favorite part was the quiet booth with no rush to be in and out. The wait staff was fantastic and they let us sit for hours chatting about the past ten (twelve) years of our fantastic life together.
After dinner, we opted for something a bit different and highly recommended by a friend.
We went to New York, NY to the piano bar.
We loved it!
It was just what the evening ordered and we had such a great time.
With only one day left in Las Vegas, we headed back to the pool for some Rest and Relaxation.
Realizing that I didn't have many photos of the pool, I had my camera ready.
Oddly, I noticed that there wasn't anybody on the lazy river.
Come to find out, the pool was closed due to an unknown event. We can only guess what that was, but it was open again before we knew it.
On Friday afternoon as the wild and crazy Las Vegas party crowd was coming into town, we were taking our Rested and Relaxed selves to the airport to head home for a weekend with Grandma and our favorite boys. Our Anniversary celebration may have come to an end, but we still had a fun weekend in store.
It may not have been Bora Bora, but it was the perfect anniversary celebration. It gave us three fantastic days to rest, relax and just spend time together. We celebrated our first anniversary this way and after ten years, we still love it.

You two lovebirds continue to be an inspiration to everyone on how marriage should be!
And your hike to find the In-N-Out Burger joint reminded me a bit of that marathon hike we took in Denver to get to the Rockies game... the one where you said, "We'll go THIS way, because it's the SHORTEST way," and then boom! Construction and closed roads and backtracking and LET'S ALL WALK TWENTY-NINE MILES TO THE ROCKIES GAME, SO WE CAN DRINK BEER AND EAT CHILI FRIES WITH NO GUILT!
Great post!
