Flag Football is Double Duty

Flag football is back and we are SO excited.  Not only is Oliver playing his fifth season but Kellan is starting his first season.  To top it off, Keith and Patrick are coaching.

Keith and Patrick huddled up the 4-5 year old team.  As we watched the little guys huddle together, the big kids were on the field next door getting ready to play simultaneously.
The big kids approached the line of scrimmage a bit more polished than their little brothers.
The Dragons have four undefeated seasons under their belt and they were fired up to make it five.
Kellan was excited to be on the field as a Polar Bear.
Rawr!!
Back to the Dragons, Oliver was running the ball.
Notice the style, notice the speed, notice the focus.
Notice the look of determination and focus that the defense had in his eye.
This was proving to be a whole new season with tougher opponents.  It was going to be a challenge to hold onto their undefeated record.
On the Polar Bears field, Kellan was getting ready to run the ball.
The ball was in place, his mouth guard was in place...
His hands were in place...
The ball moved...
The ball was in place in his hands and he was OFF!
Run, Kellan, RUUUUNNNNN!!!!!!
Kellan ran straight into the defense, as he was taught.
The defense went straight for his flags, as they were taught.
The offense was down and Kellan ran the ball for the first time.
Way to Go, Kellan!
WHOOP WHOOP!
On the field, the coaches determined who had ran the ball, who else had to run the ball and what they should eat for lunch.
Back to Oliver, he was back on offense and he had his hands on the ball.
He swerved...
he dodged...
he kicked it into high gear...
He was OFF!
RUN OLIVER RUN!
With this... he ran it in for his first touchdown of the season.
Wahoo Oliver!
With a casual trot, he brought the ball back into the playing field.
Back to the Polar Bears (dizzy yet... we were), Oliver and Emerson were plotting their first win of the season.
Once again, Kellan ran the ball.
Run, Kellan, RUN!

It is absolutely amazing to see the difference between the 4-5 year old league and the 6-7 year old league.  It's fun to see where the Dragons have come from to where they are now.  It is also fun to see where the Polar Bears are starting, knowing what they could have the potential to do in the years to come.

Both teams took home wins but more than anything, we were SO proud of how well our boys played.  We love watching them in activities that they enjoy and we look forward to football week after week.
