Three weeks into flag football and Kellan was starting to get some moves down.
Even with a 5 K under their belts, the boys were fired up for football.
He and Cole strategized at practice.
He was a pro at holding hands to determine the appropriate distance that you should stand from your other defensive man.
He had the knee hold down.
He checked out other knee holds to make sure that everyone had the appropriate knee hold, including himself.
He did a few finger ground touches, just to check the feel of it.
He liked it, so he stuck with one knee hold, one ground hold and a stink eye.
He conversed with his team mates about the appropriate placement of the mouth guard.
He and his team mates practiced their moves a few more times before the big game.
He gave a nod to his Mama for good luck.
He got a few pointers from the coach (Keith) on running the ball.
He considered them.
Then... he was off like the wind.
Straight into the gauntlet of defensive octopus tentacles.
Man Down!
Man Down!
Finally... it was time for the game.
Again, we were torn between two fields as both Oliver and Kellan had the same game time.
When I got to Oliver's field, he was playing center.
I loved looking back at the photos to see how he hands off the ball and it looks like he's throwing his hands up as if to say, "be off with this ball."
Oliver's focus kept him in at center for much of the game.
With all of the focus in the world, he still threw his hands. Of course, you don't notice this in person, only in the gazillion still shots that I have. I find it entertaining.
Back to the Polar Bears, Kellan had his turn running the ball.
Run, Kellan, Run!
Whoop, just like that, the flag is pulled.
It's so amazing going from one field to the next. With the Polar Bears, I can snap a gazillion photos of one play since the action is much slower paced. For the Dragon's, I don't get nearly as many photos anymore as each play is so much quicker.
We love watching the boys and are so proud of another win by both teams.
