Soaking up the Pool

Summer is flying by and with the arrival of August doesn't come the pleasure knowing that we have one whole month of summer left.  No, what comes with August is panic that we only have a few weeks of summer left, which is amplified with Oliver starting Kindergarten this month and Kellan starting Pre-School on the very same day.  What also doesn't help is that this summer has been especially wet and rainy, which has been great for keeping our state green and wild fire free, but it hasn't promoted a lot of pool time.  With this predicament, we did what any fine family would do when the sun comes out on a Saturday morning and there is a pool practically in your back yard.  We went to the pool!

It was a quiet day at the pool, which was great for the kids to play and rule the pool.

Kellan is especially fond of the kiddie pool and the beach ball that he discovered left behind by a neighborhood kid.
Oliver is always excited to work on his swimming, especially the crawl stroke.
You may be seeing sneak peeks of the next Michael Phelps.
Our fish, AKA, Oliver.
He swims laps and then works on his cannon ball form.
I call this the Karate Kid pose.
The scene from afar.
Daddy blowing up the dolphin, which has been requested since Summer began but the pool is usually too busy to use it.
Kellan ruling the one-man kingdom of the kiddie pool.
Oliver doing laps on the side.
Another shot at the cannon ball dive.
Daddy working out his lungs.
Kellan is cool in the pool.

Who says you can't swim with the dolphins in Colorado?
Time to put the swimming skills to work.

The launch.
The Matrix movie pose.
The Big Splash!
We had a GREAT morning at the pool and we're hoping for a few more days before they lock it up and hide the key for winter.  Here's also to hoping that Mother Nature agrees with that plan and provides us with a few dry and sunny weekend days.

I was hoping to catch a glimpse of "that one house" in the neighborhood that has "that amazing patio and outdoor bar," but... sadly... the photographer was taking the snapshots at the wrong angle. I hear all the pool-goers are talking about this uber cool bar, where half-naked (and sometimes all-the-way-naked) little boys can belly up for a soda, while they dry in the sun.

I wonder if there is anything better than seeing pictures of kids playing in the pool on a bright summer Colorado day? I think not!
