Fire Bolt

For months, maybe more than a year, Oliver's been asking for a fish.
What he would really like is a dog, but he is quite allergic to dogs and cats, so there aren't any dogs in our near future.  Instead, he wanted a fish.
He wanted a fish so much, that he completed extra chores for cold hard cash and coins.  He saved and saved until he had enough to purchase his very first fish.  Finally, the day arrived when we decided to go to Petco, because that's where the pets go.  We loaded up Oliver's large bag of coins and headed to Wells Fargo where we could put them in the fancy machine to exchange coins for cash so that he could carry cash into Petco instead of a bag of coins.  (details!) After careful consideration, he picked out his new Beta fish and tank, walked it up to the counter and laid down his very own cash for payment.

He carefully held the fish in his lap for the car ride home and thoughtfully determined that his name would be Fire Bolt.
You see, he is a male fighting fish, so he needed a tough name.  Plus, he's red.  So Fire Bolt it is.
Once home, he carefully examined the contents of the fish tank.
He put together the filter with ease.
Daddy read the instructions.
Kellan examined the tank quality.
Once the tank was set up, the directions instructed the new fish owner to let the tank sit for 24 hours to stabilize.  So... we waited... and admired Fire Bolt.

Finally, the next morning, Fire Bolt was introduced to his new home.  He loves it.  He loves the boys.  He loves all of us.  He really is, quite the Feisty little Fire Bolt.
When Oliver picked him out, he wasn't the most outgoing fish and he didn't have the flashiest tail.  He actually looked quite timid.  (Honestly, I wondered why Oliver picked this fish?)  It didn't take long after he was in his new tank for us to realize, this guy is perfect for Oliver.  He's quiet at first, but really, he's a ball of fun.  He is quick to greet you when you approach him.  He wiggles his tail fins in happiness.  He follows you when you move side to side on the tank.  He really is, the closest fish that Oliver's going to get to a dog.  He's perfect!

Welcome to the Ham Fam, Fire Bolt!!
