Dragons on Fire

The morning after Nolan's visit, the boys were busy working on their Ham Fam tune.  We might have a band forming.
Look at that talent.
Enough of the piano... we're Ready for some FOOTBALL!!!
That's right, it's flag football time for Oliver. It's his first season playing and he LOVES it!!  He is playing on team Dragons with some friends and classmates and they are all loving it.  Plus, they are dominating the field.  It didn't take long for us to realize that flag football is much different than soccer and the point and shoot camera wouldn't cut it. Not only did we bust out the Big Dog Camera, but the Big Dog Lens as well.  With over 200 photos, it was tough to narrow them down, but here are the top 50ish.
Oliver's handsome, football loving, Dragon cheering Daddy.
PRACTICE:
Each Sunday, the team practices for an hour and then plays a game for an hour.  We didn't think that the boys would make it for two hours but they do, and they do great!
Oliver waiting for the hike.
Oliver receiving the hike.
More of a pass, but it's all about learning at this point.
He's off and running.

No Pain, No Gain!!
Ok... I have no idea what this face is about, but I thought it was quite funny.
No worries... no one was actually injured in this shot.
Potentially, he was stretching or cheering on a team mate.  Who knows?!
Our oldest son is looking so grown up!
Getting direction from Coach Ben.
Oliver has been very successful at Flag Football.  His primary key to success, he listens and executes.
Done and Done.

Look at that natural football handling talent.

Hello, Nike, yes, we're willing to talk endorsement.

Not every play is graceful, but he caught the ball!
Footballs are not the easiest shape to catch.

The peanut gallery was bundled up and huddled up on the side lines.
Introducing Peanut I: Cole.
Peanut II: Kellan
Mmmm The snacks sure are good.  Hopefully they don't eat them all since technically they are for the team!
MMmmmm Delish!!
Hmmm... I think Cheddar's Better.

This may be a glimpse into their future as Grumpy Old Men.

After the hour of practice and 100 or so photos, it was time for the real deal.
Game Time!
Oliver was getting the play from Coach Ben.
Snap!
He's go the ball.
He's off and running!

He ditches the defense.
He swerves to ditch another defensive line man.
(Mama takes credit for the skills in these moves.  All of those Ham Fam dance parties are paying off.)
Whoosh!  Another one down!
Oliver dusts the opponents as they look up to see him run off into the horizon.
Bam! Another one bites the dust.
He's in the clear and in the end zone.
TOUCH DOWN Oliver!!
There is no big celebration, just a humble ending to a big moment.
GO OLIVER GO!
It's half time and the coach is firing up the team.  It looks like he's asking them who's going to pull flags.
Second half and Oliver's turn to be Quarter back again.  They take turns in every position on Offense and Defense.
Once Oliver has the play from his Coach, the ball is snapped and he's off and running.

TOUCHDOWN Oliver!!
The Defense looks back at the Ref as if he can't believe his ears!
Once again, a humble walk through the end zone and back to the team.
For your viewing pleasure, action shots of the TWO Touchdowns!!
With all of this excitement, Kellan requested a photo op.
"CHEESE Mama, CHEESE!"
I heard this statement until I walked out front and took his photo.
No complaints here.  I could snap his photo all day.

That day, both Oliver and his buddy Owen were rewarded medals for a job well done.
Way to Go Boys!!
As a refresher, Owen and Oliver have known each other since they were itty bitty.  They started at Primrose Ken Caryl together and have been friends ever since.  Lucky for them, now their parents are all friends too, so we hang out regularly.
GO Team Dragons!!
Go Oliver GO!!

Okay... I laughed and laughed at the Grump Old Men reference, because when I first saw those snapshots, I thought... KELLAN LOOKS LIKE THE STAR OF "GRUMPY OLD MEN!" Something there about great minds thinking alike...

And what a football whiz you have! Glad you broke out the big camera and showed us all the pictures of Oliver and his touchdowns. I think I smell a Heisman Trophy in his future!
