Oliver's Play Date with Charlie

Oliver had his first play date and invited Charlie over for a visit.  Charlie is Oliver's best buddy from school.  They have been together since infants.  When they were in the 12-18 month classroom the teacher described them like brothers.  They love each other one minute, fight the next and are back to sharing the love by the third minute.  They are also good for each other.  Charlie is the youngest of three boys so he pushes our reserved oldest child to be more adventurous.  We also noticed that Oliver could use some practice in sharing his toys.  All around, it was a great time for the boys.

Oliver was SO excited to play his new (birthday) fishing game with Charlie.  I can almost imagine them around an ice fishing hole.

Next stop, the train table that we moved into the office.  We moved it out of Oliver's room when Grandma was here after Kellan's birth.  We have learned to like it here because we can work in the office while Oliver is entertained and feels involved.  There is no way I'm moving into the living room as he would prefer.  As Oliver would say "probably.... the living room would be a good place for the train table".
Lunch time fit for a play date: cheese hot dogs.  Yum!
What did Kellan think of the play date?  It was a real snoozer!
Someday, he'll appreciate them too.
After lunch, Keith took the boys outside and they went on a hunt for snakes, spiders and ants.  Charlie was armed with a bat and Oliver was armed with a golf club.  They reported back that they didn't find any because it was too windy for these creatures.  Someday I'll let them know that they don't like the temperatures in October either, but until then, I'll go with the wind theory.
