Even with a very busy weekend, Oliver made cupcakes for his class to celebrate his birthday. Each time he helps in the kitchen, he can do more and more. This time, he practically made the cupcakes by himself. He's growing up so fast.
So excited to be making cupcakes.
We whipped these cupcakes up in the morning after breakfast and before his football game on Sunday. Whew!
After football and dinner it was time to frost the cupcakes. Oliver was in charge of sprinkles and footballs. Mommy was in charge of the green frosting. Kellan was in charge of picking the next cake that was due for decorating.
Have a GREAT time decorating cupcakes.
The birthday boy with the finished product.
He gave these cakes two thumbs up.
Both boys gave them two thumbs up after they each devoured one.
The next day was Monday, October 14. After a special birthday breakfast of his choice (Blueberry Pancakes at the Egg and I) with Nana and Papa, we were off to school with his cupcakes. He was very proud to show me his classroom and all of the fun that goes into it. He was also excited to introduce me to the fish, snail and frog; so we took his picture with them.
Happy Birthday Super Star!
After a full day of fun at Kindergarten, we went out to Oliver's choice of dinner. We thought that he might pick something different this year, but he picked a family favorite of Red Robin. After talking with Kellan, I turned around to find Oliver quite comfortable in his Nana pillow. It must have been a long day of celebrating turning six.
Kellan is a natural born entertainer and we caught another glimpse of it as he sat in the photo booth.
After a delicious and fun dinner at Red Robin (YUM!), the boys had celebratory desserts of Turning Six Sundaes.
Even Kellan got in on the Turning Six Sundae.
That wasn't the end.
There were family gifts to open.
Nana and Papa brought a truckload from Wyoming and the mailman brought the rest.
First up, he picked the long dog from Mommy, Daddy and Kellan.
Opening... Opening... Opening...
What's That?
A life size Fathead?
Still opening to reveal something that says Broncos.
WHOA Baby!!
Peyton Manning is in our living room!!!
Happy Birthday Oliver.
Now where are we going to put this HUGE Peyton Manning?
On the wall next to your bed? Yes, that does sound like the perfect place.
Plus, a lot of other fun stuff including a super fast Puma shirt.
(When there is puma on your shirt, you're automatically fast)
Then... he opened this and couldn't stop smiling.
A book all about sharks from Nana and Papa. They hit the birthday gift jack pot in Oliver's mind. He did tell us that Peyton Manning was #2, immediately following the Shark book.
It was love at first page.
He also got a nice shirt to go with that shark book.
After opening all of his gifts, he went right back to the shark book.
Turning page after page.
This book went to school with him for several days so that he could read it in spare time.
Thanks for the great shark book, Nana and Papa!
Happy Birthday Big Six!
Nana and Papa with the boys.
What a cozy bunch.
Thanks again to Nana and Papa for all of your help and coming to celebrate our big boy with us. What a great weekend of family, friends and celebration of that special boy that arrived six years ago today.
