Two weeks prior to this day, we made an impromptu decision for something big.
We didn't tell the boys and we told very few other people.
It was a big surprise.
A Magical Mystery Tour, if you will.
What was it?
Watch this video to find out.
Take the time to watch it and take the journey with Oliver and Kellan.
Don't cheat and move forward, watch it. It's fun.
A few still shots from the adventure
(did you watch the video, or are you cheating and skipping ahead?)
Kellan and Oliver, excited to be on the bus.
Kellan and Oliver watching for clues as to the destination.
In search of clues.
Notice that Kellan has grown big enough to be upgraded to the roller bag ride?
Oliver was disappointed that he wasn't in the captains seat but all of that broccoli has sprouted his legs a bit too long for roller bag rides.
Giving a brother some love.
Final Destination.
Starting off on the right taste bud.
Superman Ice Cream!
(I told Keith that it could have been vanilla ice cream with that name and he would have loved it. He said that it actually was vanilla according to the sign. It didn't really matter with a name like Superman, it was a hit)
Oliver had cotton candy.
After a VERY long day, no naps, lots of excitement, anticipation of days to come, yummy ice cream and special visitors, the boys snuggled into a bed together for the first time, ever. It took over two hours, but they finally fell off into silent slumber. Notice, Oliver has a gentle hand on his little brother. (We knew this arrangement had high potential for failure, but we are ecstatic to report that it was nothing but pure success)
Surely, Oliver and Kellan didn't have trouble falling asleep due to this crazy crowd just outside on the patio. (Yes, that probably had a lot to do with it, but it was all good)
Due to our LONG travel day, we didn't get a chance to see Laurie and John until 10 PM. Yes, 10 PM!!
I have known Laurie since I was 18 and she was in the Air Force in Spokane. The following year we road tripped in the little-red-tercel to Fallon, NV and Sacramento, CA to visit my brother Jerry and friend Shawna. We have remained in touch and friends ever since. We don't see each other often but when we do it's like no time has passed. Plus, we finally got to meet her amazing husband John. We caught up, told stories and doubled over in laughter until 2 AM. Yes, 2 AM! We then commented on how excited that we were that we were able to actually stay up that late. (Shh... don't tell them that it was more like midnight to us with the time zone) We had such a great time and after we said our goodbyes, our cheeks ached from smiling and we were already talking about when we could make it back to visit again.
Thanks to Laurie and John for coming to see us, even at that late hour. Hopefully next time we can get the party started when it's still daylight!
Keith and Carrie having a great time and SO excited to be on our Magical Musical Tour.
Stay tuned for MUCH MUCH More! The mystery and adventure continues in the next post.
