Weekend in the Vacation House

Granted, we have been in our new home for two and a half weeks and it's been three and a half weeks since these events occurred that I'm about to post about.  Life still goes on, even as we waited to close on our new home and after we moved into it.  With that comes photos that have been patiently waiting on my camera to post the blog.
The one weekend in the middle of our stay in the Vacation Home* we had birthday parties and rainy day relaxation.  On Friday night we walked downtown Golden with the boys for dinner.  Kellan was beat and was in no mood for dinner out, so Daddy and Kellan went home while Mommy and Oliver had a date night.  Dinner at the Old Capital Grill came complete with an ice cream cone.
*We referred to our temporary housing as a Vacation House.  Technically, it is a vacation rental and it sounded like more fun that to refer to it as the transitional housing between our old and new homes.
Oliver shared a small nibble with Mommy, just for the photo op.
Good times had by two parties in the Ham Fam.
I couldn't believe it, but Oliver ate the WHOLE ice cream cone.  This was a first time ever event!
Meanwhile, Kellan and Daddy were back at home dining on leftovers and Kellan was in bed early.  It had been a long and hard week on our little guy as he transitioned into a new school and wasn't sleeping well at night.
On Saturday, we went to Little Monkey Bizness to celebrate Parker's 3rd birthday.
Even the Dad's got into the action, throwing the bouncy balls back and forth.
Kellan cheered them on! Or maybe he was asking for the ball back?
Kellan spent a good 20 minutes walking around like this.
Oliver had a great time running from here to there.  It was tough catching a photo of him in one place.
At one point I stuck my head in the bouncy castle and I became the new target.  There was no mercy for the Mom with the camera.  Bouncy balls came flying directly at me!

It was like a bad dodge ball flash back.  I have absolutely zero affection for dodge ball.
After the party, the kids all went to the party room for some coloring, pizza and cake.  This was Kellan's first time of being old enough to participate in the party.  The last Little Monkey Bizness party he was at he was 6 weeks old and his big brother was turning 3.  Oliver kept him close and showed him the ropes.
The two boys were irresistible coloring next to each other.
Parker had an amazing birthday cake with a Toy Story theme.
Two peas in a pod coloring some Buzz and Woody.

Parker was quite thirsty after pummeling me with bouncy balls.
Parker was a pro at blowing out candles now that he's been through this three years in a row.
Happy Birthday Parker.  You've come a long way since you were just a Short Stack.
After everyone enjoyed some yummy cup cakes, we headed home for some rest and relaxation.
After Kellan was sleeping soundly in a personal Queen size bed, I found these two winding down with Diego.
Kellan wasn't sleeping well in the pack and play, so we moved him to the bed in the second bedroom. This moved Oliver out to the living room hide-a-bed.  This arrangement worked much better that before and all four of us were finally getting a little more sleep.
Does it really get much cuter?
On Sunday morning we woke up to rain and snow covered hillsides.  We spent most of the morning like this....
Relaxing in our PJ's, catching up with our electronic devices and each other.
Sunday afternoon, Oliver had a birthday party for one of his friends from his old Primrose school.
Here he is horsing around with Nick, back at Little Monkey Bizness.
Oliver and the birthday boy, Owen.
Oliver loved coloring the Spider-Man page from the party.  His attention to detail was amazing and he insisted on finishing his piece of art before eating cake.  He loved seeing his friends from his first Primrose and getting to play at Monkey Bizness two days in a row!
At home, Kellan enjoyed a relaxing afternoon with the toy basket all to himself followed by a 4.5 hour nap!
We took full advantage of having a weekend with no moving activities, no house to take care of and no real responsibilities.  We knew (or hoped) that the next weekend we would be back in full action as we were set to close on our new home the following Friday.
