It's official! We have the keys!!
This is the photo that I took to post at the end of the story about our new home adventure. From this moment on it was such a whirlwind of moving that it didn't get posted to that story and the camera didn't come out much after this. We moved out of our Vacation Home, Keith met the movers at the storage shed, Keith's parents were at the new house and Operation Move In began. That afternoon we moved EVERYTHING into the new house in a matter of a few hours. The next three days we unpacked, unpacked and unpacked some more. Keith's Mom was instrumental in getting our kitchen in working order. Keith and his Dad worked on installing ceiling light and fan fixtures (all ceiling fixtures were removed prior to our move in. Foreclosure home, remember), replacing fire alarm batteries for all of the alarms that were beeping non-stop, replacing light bulbs, changing door locks, etc. I spent the days going from room to room unpacking, getting settled, running to the store for odds and ends and juggling the boys. We couldn't have done it without Keith's parents help and thanks to them and the non-stop work, in three days we were nearly unpacked, completely.
Through the week we worked on the house here and there. We have an amazing 1/2 acre surrounded by mountain views. Unfortunately, the grass is dead and has been taken over by the resident weeds. Keith's Dad poisoned the weeds and a few days later Keith (and Oliver) followed it with fertilizer in hopes that grass may grow.
The weather has been in the 80's, which makes for perfect weather to get outside in the evenings. Keith can barely stop smiling from ear to ear.
Kellan loves to explore the yard and never runs out of things to see and talk about.
I did manage to get the two boys to sit still for a photo op in front of their new front door.
Welcome to the Hamilton Home.
Days went by and we didn't take another single photo of our move in progress. The following weekend the boys did get some new bubble guns that proved to be a good time in the back yard.
Oliver was parading bubbles all over the back yard.
Kellan couldn't quite get the bubbles to come out on a continuous basis.
Even with his tongue fully engaged in concentration, he couldn't quite get the bubble gun to work as continuous as Olivers. Maybe because he held it upside down most of the time.
It's probably good that he couldn't coordinate the bubble gun orientation and the trigger or he may have had bubbles up his nose.
Days and days went by and the two boys discovered the piano. This is the very same piano that their Mommy played when she was a kid. It has been in our basement since our wedding, covered and protected. It now has a home in our office/den/library (we're still deciding on the official title). Oliver is thrilled to have the piano and keeps asking when he can take music lessons. For sure, we will sign him up in the fall. Could he be the next Hamilton pianist like his Uncle Jeff?
What can we say?
We LOVE our new home!
It has been two weeks and most days we are in disbelief that we are finally living in our dream home. Most days we feel like we must be on vacation. As each day passes, it becomes more and more clear that it is ours to keep. Before too long the mortgage will be due and it will no longer fell like a vacation home, but one that reminds us monthly that we have to pay the mortgage so it must be ours!
