Fore His Passion

We signed Oliver up for one week of golf camp this summer.  This was then followed by three more weeks of golf camp because he love it so much.  One one day (only one), we were super early to the golf course for camp so I made him putt around for a few photos.  He barely tolerated his dear 'ol Mom's desire to photograph his new passion.  It's only cool until someone sees you and the risk was high that someone could arrive at any second to see this happening.

This kid has an amazing ability to putt from extreme distances.  It basically blows us away.

This kid is also a bit spoiled as his Mommy bought him a new hat to protect him from the sun.  His only other hat was black and that would just absorb the sun and cook his brain so he needed a new hat.  This Titleist Pro VI hat is his new pride and joy.
We think he's worth it, especially if it keeps his brain from getting too hot in the summer sun.
We look forward to seeing this kid go to college on a full ride golf scholarship (no pressure, buddy but Oregon isn't going to be cheap!)

Soaking up Summer

Doesn't everybody go to the pool to lose a tooth?  Oliver did.
Swim some laps, lose a tooth, swim a few more laps, pose for a picture...
All in summer day as a 7-year old.
Our friends the Wells came over to catch up and enjoy some lunch, followed by a dip in the pool for the kids.  We loved having the Wells family over for a visit and the boys really enjoyed swimming in the pool with Jin.
As evening approached, we abandoned the pool and sat back to enjoy this amazing sunset from our back patio.

What an amazing summer day.  This is what summer is supposed to be about.  Simple pleasures of enjoying a day with friends and the amazing place that we live.

Suitest Pizza Party Ever

Earlier this spring, we joined forces with friends and went in on a silent auction item to enjoy a suite at a Rockies game.  It started out as a gorgeous evening and then... the monsoon rain rolled in.
The Rockies got in a few pitches and the gang of little fans cheered them on.
Kellan, Oliver, Owen, Evan, Emerson, Brad (sure, he can be a little fan too) and Chase.
We watched the rain literally move in and as we did, we watched the ground crew cover the infield.
We watched the field get covered and uncovered several times.
Something must have excited Kellan.  There is no telling what it was because there wasn't much action going on.
The only action was the pizza party in the suite.
What caps off a pizza party more than giant cookies for dessert?
Finally, after a nearly two hour delay, the Rockies took the field.
As the Rockies took the field, the sky started to clear.

As 10 PM approached, our party people departed as it was a work night.  As they all left, Kellan closed down his own party and closed his eyes.  This is not common for him and it was SO precious!
That's a big couch for one tiny sleeper.
Oliver always loves the thrill of the competition and the strategy that goes behind it.  Oliver and Daddy had a great evening watching the Rockies take the lead.

Watching sports is always such a serious time.
As 11 PM approached, we too called it a night.  The boys were beat but they LOVED it!!  It was such a great evening with friends and the Colorado Rockies.  Next time, maybe  Mother Nature will deliver some clear skies.

From Surf to Turf and Raindrops to Sunbeams

Our final day in Steamboat, it was still a bit chilly but the sun was really trying to poke out on Pearl Lake.
The boys had some serious crayfish catching to do so there was no room for rain.

Hold on little buddy!  Don't let go!
Even Gami and Jennie were entertained by the crayfish.

It was great fun to watch the crayfish crawl across the dock.

We got a bit of a fire going to keep the mosquito's away but then it began to rain so Papa had to save the fire.  Really, it's kind of funny.
Jennie and Kellan looking so adorable.
The crayfish catching continued on and on...
Rain or shine... there were races to be had.
After some time, the crayfish were left alone and the fish were now fair game.

Enough of the fun on the dock; Jennie, Papa and I went for a walk.

Back at the beach, it was time for a bit of a snack.
Owen may not have taken a break from the fishing all day.
Oliver hardly paused either.

Owen and Jennie, cute as ever.
How many times did this guy come up for a crayfish race?
The rain sprinkled on, but Gami and Papa were nice and dry.
We even had a friendly deer stop by to see what all of the fun was about.
Eventually, I peeled the boys away from the fishing action and the three of us took a walk.

As we walked, the sun peeked out.
Even on the other side of the lake Oliver continued to spot crayfish.

As we turned around the head back, Kellan expressed that he was "TOO Hot!".  He was not happy about it but the joy of being a boy is that he can strip a few upper layers.
That evening we went out to a great steak house dinner right on the river.
Eric, Jennie, Carrie, Oliver, Owen, Kellan, Gami, Papa, Keith
Oliver was excited to try a local brew (of soda).
Kellan was loving his buttery biscuits.
Owen was happy to be the head of the table.
Gami and Papa were enjoying a lovely summer evening.
As dinner was winding down, Gami and the boys headed down by the river to enjoy a chat.

These boys LOVE Gami!
We think she may love them too :)
The Heinemans and Hamiltons, in the HOUSE!
What an amazing time we had in Steamboat Springs.  We enjoyed some activities that we have done before as well as many new adventures.  More than anything, we loved enjoying it all with the Heinemans and Scotts.
Happy Independence!!
