Rub-A-Dub-Scrub! Two Boys in the Tub!

Can you believe that Kelan had his first bubble bath yesterday at 2 1/2 years of age?!
We never use bubble bath because it always dried Oliver's skin out so much.  Since we were having a lazy Saturday morning, we tossed in a few bubbles for fun.  Oliver was excited!!  When Kellan saw the bubbles he beamed and giggled with glee.  Seriously!  I missed those happy moments on camera, but I got several others.  I'm opting for more photos and less words for this post.  I think it was equal fun for the boys in the bubbles and for Mommy with the camera.
Rub-A-Dub-Scrub!

Exploring bubbles for the first time.

Brother See Brother Do!

"Look Kellan, bubbles drip off the letters!"

The bubbles were getting a bit thin and Mommy said "No, you don't need anymore."  She was thinking this because it dries their skin out.  However, the genuinely sad look on Kellan's face changed her mind and she warmed up the tub and added a few more bubbles.

There's a shark in them there waters

Kellan wondering why Oliver keeps moving the bubbles his way while Olive kept wondering why the bubbles were disappearing from around him.

"Rawr, the shark is eating you!!!" says Kellan to his brother.  Such an imagination.
I eventually got tired of seeing Oliver's messy breakfast face through my camera lens so I asked him to wash his face.  What remains is chapped from biting his lower lip when he's concentrating at school.  We're working on breaking that habit before it sticks around too long.

It only took the majority of the bath, but eventually the Santa beard came out.

Kellan getting his first bubble beard.
He wasn't so sure of it at first, but then, he was all smiles.

"HO HO HO"

"Santa Claus... HO HO HO"

Happy Tub Time!
We hope you had a squeaky clean day too!

Magic Mornings

We LOVE mornings like this when it's this cold outside.
One of our three weather stations* in our house stated that it was -.4 degrees this morning and the highest we ever saw it get was 14.  We spent much time watching cartoons, catching up on computer work, drinking coffee and eating butter bread braids.  It was The Best!!  It was a WIN/WIN for the whole family, Mickey-The-Mouse included.

Now, we are rooting for a WIN for the Broncos over the Ravens.

* YES, we have THREE weather stations in this house.  When you are married to an engineer, you have multiple weather stations.  You also get hourly report outs on the temperature, future weather, wind speed and wind chill.  I'll pretend that it's an Engineers dream so I'm tolerating living with it, but really, I love the weather reports too.  (After Keith reads this, my secret will be out.  Hmmm...)

O&O Sleepover

Since Oliver was three, he has been asking to have a sleep over.  Now that he's five, we figured we would give it a shot.  There was really no rhyme or reason to five.  More than anything it was that we know Owen really well and he knows us, so we thought we would give it a shot.  Plus, we had thought we would stay the night at the Martin's house on New Years but since Mommy wasn't feeling well, the family came home.  (Yes, our house has had our share of "the bug" like every other house).  So, maybe this was a bit of a way to make up for it with Oliver.
Owen's Mommy was out of town for the big Notre Dame game, so the Martin guys came over to watch the game and eat pizza.  Before Owen's Daddy and brother left, we put PJ's on the boys and they snuggled in for a photo op.  Can't you tell by the smiles that they aren't really sleeping.
Owen and Oliver ready for a sleep over.
Cole wishing for a sleepover himself because it was WAY past he and Kellan's bedtime.
Time to brush teeth.

All Set, Shiny and Bright!

Snuggled in for real and ready for a bedtime story.
The boys did great and slept soundly until 7 AM the next morning.

After some breakfast and a bit of playing, it was time to take Owen home.  They had a great time and Oliver is already excited to do it again!!

Brotherly Bonding

I recently ran across Oliver's old potty chair so I put it in the bathroom, just in case.  When Oliver goes in to take care of business, Kellan usually goes with to turn the light on and off, turn the fan on (and leave it on) or sit on the foot stool and chat.  Today, I found this.
There is nothing like camping out on the pot with your brother... so I imagine.

After Oliver was done, Kellan stated that he wasn't done yet and shut the door.
We gave him a few minutes and then I found this.
He was quite content and proud of himself, sitting in there, by himself.
The only magical moment that happened today was seeing the two boys on the potty at the same time.  Maybe next time, there will be poopy in the potty.
