I could get all deep and sappy about the topic of raising proper gentlemen, but I won't. What I will say is that it is very important to Keith and I to do so. We want our boys to be respectful, say please and thank you, open doors, wait their turn yet be persistent when appropriate, be patient, respect their elders, the list goes on and on. With all parenting, it starts on day 1. You can't start mid-stream and place blame on someone or something else. It starts on day 1 and it starts with you, their parents and their family.
So... our boys write thank you notes.
This is Oliver's second round since he just wrote his first thank you notes after his 7th birthday. Not only was it great training in proper etiquette, but it was a great exercise in reading and writing. Now that Kellan has mastered writing his name, he was in the thank you note assembly line as well.
In this photo, Kellan is drawing the line to write his name on. We discovered that he still needs a line to help him out, but regardless, he's doing a great job!
Oliver was in charge of the body of the note. He did a great job too!
If you're wondering where your thank you card is, it's coming.
It was written with precision, care and only a few minor complaints. Hey, they are 4 and 7 year old boys. It's not like they bellied up with excitement over this task. Someday, someone will appreciate these gentlemen that went through so much training.
