Friday night, Oliver looked like he was coming home from camp. His backpack was filled to the brim, plus, he had a huge bag that was full of stuff. Come to find out, that stuff was Froggy and all of his sleepover gear. Yes, this included a change of clothes, shoes, a blanket and pillow. The assignment for the weekend was for Oliver to take Froggy on his adventures so that he could create a report page for the class book to return on Monday.
That weekend, Froggy helped Oliver build his lego airplane.
Froggy went to Kellans super sunny soccer game.
Froggy went to Red Robin for lunch followed by a stop at Costco.
Froggy watched an afternoon movie with the boys.
Sunday morning, Froggy played in the fort that the boys built.
Oliver has never been much of a stuffed animal kind of kid, but his brother LOVES them. Can you tell?
Later that morning, Oliver was brushing up on his math skills while Kellan steam rolled him.
Back and Forth, Back and Forth.
This was probably some form of payback from the day before.
Rewind to 22 hours earlier when the boys were in the cart at Costco. These actions were filled with giggles and comments from Oliver that went like this:
"Why are you hitting yourself, Kellan. Stop hitting yourself, Kellan."
Giggle, giggle, giggle.
This was a serious flashback to my youth when my older brother treated me the same way.
The only difference here is that there is a good chance that Kellan will outgrow his older brother based on his current growth rate.
For me, there was never a chance of that. So... I still get that torturous treatment from time to time when we visit. Those are not the most memorable times. Oh, Brothers!
So, now that everyone is fair and square, it was time for Oliver to work on his Froggy project. Not only did he have Froggy for the weekend but he was the Star Student the following week so he had to create his Star Student poster.
We picked out photos, had them printed at Costco, trudged through the snow to pick them up (twice, because the order didn't go through the first time) and then came home to make a master piece.
Kellan was very curious as to what Oliver was working on.
This is a terrible picture, but look at that SNOW!
The day before was sunny and 70, followed by snow and gloom. Boo!
Froggy was supposed to watch Oliver play football, but instead, the game was cancelled so they built a fort. We thought that it was a fair trade.
Oliver's finished poster!
All of the things that he loves to do including swimming, skiing, football, hiking, legos, hanging with his friends and snakes. The only thing missing was his Mommy! WHAT?! Yes. It's true. Of all of the pictures that were printed and we trudged through snow (twice) to pick up, he didn't pick any Mommy photos for the poster. I guess that's what happens when Mommy is behind the camera for all of the fun things.
He also completed his page of Froggy's weekend. He had the option of having a parent write the words or to write them himself. He chose to do it himself and I was so very proud. He did a great job. He did write in pencil, so it's hard to read in the photos, but we still love it!
What a fantastic weekend! We (especially Kellan) loved having Froggy on our adventures and my favorite part was working on Oliver's projects with him on a snowy Sunday afternoon. What a great Snowday Sunday. Now... bring on Summer!
