Friday Night Flight

Some Friday nights are different than others.
A typical Friday night consists of pizza and a movie because we're all just done.  The boys are tired, the parents are tired, we're all just done with the week.
This Friday was a bit different.  There was no TV, but soft music and each of us quietly working on something independently (kind of).
While Mommy was working on photo management, Kellan was working on his letters and numbers with the PBS Kids app.

Oliver and Daddy were working on Oliver's latest project.
Do you remember the Lego airplane that Oliver put together all by himself to prove that he could, so that he could upgrade to the BIG airplane?  Well, not only did he prove that he could put together the small airplane, he also worked his tail off to earn enough allowance to purchase the big airplane.  Plus, he found it on Amazon for $13 less than at the Lego store, which means he earned the airplane faster.  It's good work ethic, math and problem solving all tied up together.

The Lego project was for Oliver, but I think that Daddy enjoyed it just as much.

Meanwhile, Kellan continued to kick back and even threw a leg over the edge while he settled in to a little "Cat in the Hat" because he "knows a lot about that!"

Oliver and Daddy worked on this airplane nearly all night!
Well, until 10 PM, which is practically all night!

As the end neared, Kellan became curious.
Oliver added the finishing touches.

The finished project and the engineers.

Taking off on its first flight.

You can almost hear Kellan saying "Can I see?  Oliver, I want to see?"

I have to say it; I love these two!
I love how good they are together.  How patient and kind Oliver is with Kellan and how inquisitive Kellan is with his big brother whom he adores and admires.
They truly are, best friends.

What a fantastic (and late) Friday night!
We loved spending the time together and working on whatever struck our fancy.
We need to do this more often.

They are just too stinking cute! If we bought a house in your cul de sac, we could send our big boy over for Lego night and our little boy over for "Cat in the Hat" night, and WE could have THIS IS A GLASS OF CREAMY HALF AND HALF FULL OF BAILEY'S IRISH CREAM AND ICE CUBES night.
