Hamiltons in Hawaii - Day 5

Hamiltons in Hawaii
and the Series of Unfortunate Events
Day 5 - Just Keep Swimming

Unfortunate Event: Two BIG bruises!  One on my hip from the boogie boarding adventure on Day 2 and one on my arm from Kellan on Day 3.  Ouch!  On top of that, for some reason I thought I was looking OK enough this morning for a photo of my bruises while I was in my PJ's.  Crazy!
Ahhh....  Mommy and her bruiser having a morning snuggle.
This Tuesday morning, us girls opted to take the little boys to the aquarium while the big boys went snorkeling.  We loaded everyone up, complete with drinks and snacks and we hit the road.
This photo was just to show Lindsey driving the mini van so that would could continue to tease her and Jeff that they needed one for #2 who is on the way.  Maybe the jokes on us since they are considering buying one.
Within no time, Kellan was passed out sleeping and William was cracking jokes.  I think Kellan would have much preferred a day at home for another fat nap, but the days were ticking away for our time on Maui.  In the spirit of going to the aquarium and in the words of Dori from Nemo, "Just Keep Swimming".
At the Aquarium, Oliver loved looking at the fish while Aunt Lindsey anxiously looked for the humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa, the Hawaii state fish.

Lindsey, William, Oliver, Kellan and Nana at the aquarium.
Oliver was the official map carrier for a while.  He took his job very seriously.
This eel still creeps me out.  It was just huge and creepy.
I can't remember the name of this fish but it camouflaged itself like it's surroundings.  In this case, red coral.

This was an octopus of sorts.  Again, a bit creepy.
Looking back at this photo I think this was Kellan telling me "Mom, save me from this misery and take me home for a nap."
Before long, we were at the floor to ceiling tank that housed the sharks, sting rays and other crowd pleasers.  Bothe Oliver and Kellan as well as the rest of us really enjoyed this area.

Oliver loves the manta rays (or sting rays, whichever this may be).
Oliver with some sharks, personal favorites.

This tunnel fish tank was also a crowd pleaser for Oliver and Kellan.  It was connected to the same tank so some of the rays and sharks would swim over the top of us.

We headed into the gift shop and there we found an artist painting names with symbols from Hawaii.  I thought it would make a great souvenir for the boys.  Oliver really enjoyed watching the artist create his name.
Oliver sat very still and calm while the artist carefully painted his name.
It was a great set up for watching as there was a camera on the art so that people could see what he was doing on the TV above him.

We trucked (or mini vanned, in our case) the boys home and put them down for naps.  When Keith came home from snorkeling, this is where he found his wife, relaxing in the back yard.  Unfortunately, I hadn't been sitting there long and only managed to read one page of this book all week long.
Keith quickly joined in on the relaxation.
With the guys home, us girls took full advantage and went down to the beach to relax for a short while. The park between our condo and the beach always provided for a nice setting.

Ahh... on the beach.
The beach our condo on was a bit rocky and the water was muddy, but it was still relaxing to sit by.

Carrie enjoying the sun and surf.
Behind the scenes, Jeff and William were enjoying some park time.  I loved how they were sitting right in the middle of the palm tree shadow.
That evening, Jeff and Lindsey went out to dinner and we had dinner with Nana, Papa and William.  Kellan thought this was a hoot!
Oliver and I went down to the beach to watch the sunset while Daddy grilled dinner.

Nana bought Oliver a new lizard at the aquarium, which he LOVED!  One of his favorite activities is to swing it around himself as fast as it will go.
Zing.... there goes the lizard!

Meanwhile, back at the condo, Keith was grilling up some steaks and Ono fish.  Not to be confused with "Oh No, fish tonight?!"
This photo cracked us up for quite some time.  Since William and Kellan had already eaten, they were cruising around the condo while the rest of us ate.  Half way through dinner I looked down to see a Kellan fish peering up through the glass.  It was almost like being back at the aquarium.
Someone at the pool had told us to go outside after dark and we would see toads, everywhere!  That night, Keith, Oliver and two glow sticks from the aquarium went in search of toad's.  May the force be with them!
Even though Daddy and Oliver were equipped with aquarium light savers, there was not one toad to be found.  Were they spoofed or was it just the luck of the draw?
