Hamiltons in Hawaii
and the Series of Unfortunate Events
Day 4 - Rest and Relaxation
On Monday, September 26, it was Papa's birthday. We had planned to send the guys snorkeling followed by dinner at a highly recommended restaurant. The previous nights events changed our plans from the get go and we decided to take it a bit easy.
Kellan and Oliver were up early, again, but the morning wake up call was getting a bit later each day. They enjoyed watching a movie together on the DVD player to start their day, complete with a brotherly cuddle. Don't let Oliver's facial expression fool you. He really was happy to be having a brotherly moment.
Oliver was very curious about the lei that was in the refrigerator from our anniversary dinner the night before. Ok, so maybe I bribed him a bit. I told him that if I could take his picture he could wear it. Worked like a charm.
Taking off the beautiful anniversary lei.
After the wild adventures the previous night, Kellan took a very long and much needed nap. He napped well into our departure time to go to the beach with the rest of the family so we encouraged them to go on without us. While Kellan napped, Oliver refused to nap. Instead, he went to the pool with Daddy while Mommy relaxed on the back patio. This is the view from our back patio toward the pool.
Between the two buildings is the beach.
The best view was of my feet up, working on relaxing. After our very busy first few days, I found relaxing took some effort but it was work I was willing to do.
From the paparazzi camera, you can see Oliver and Daddy having a great time playing in the pool. Clearly, I will never make it as the paparazzi since the foliage is in focus and the people aren't. I guess I'll retract my resume to the Hollywood gossip magazines.
I believe the game was for Oliver to float around while he directed Daddy to fetch the toy.
Once Kellan got up, he jumped in the pool for some play time as well.
Since it was well into the afternoon, we decided not to join the rest of the family at the beach and just relax at the condo.

About 3:00, we went inside to clean up for dinner.
Unfortunate Event: About 3:15 we got a call from Lindsey in search of a telephone number to cancel Nana and Papa's credit cards. While they were at the beach their wallet, purse and cell phones had been stolen.
While Keith and I were getting ready, we noticed that Kellan kept getting on the couch but we had no idea how he was managing it.
Quietly, we watched Kellan and Oliver play without them knowing we were paying attention. We finally figured out how Kellan was getting on the couch by using Oliver's car ramp. (AKA the ironing board) The next time, we took a video clip. Now that Oliver knew we were paying attention, there was a bit of competition for the ramp.
Since our evening plans were up in the air and Oliver didn't take a nap, he opted to relax with a cartoon. It took about 2.3 minutes before he was investigating the inside of his eye lids.
Ahhh... life with a little brother. It's tough to catch a break, even for a quick nap.
Due to the unfortunate event, we missed out dinner reservations, but we still got dressed up and took Papa out to dinner. The boys had a good time playing in the grass together before we left.

Hey, Aunt Lindsey!
These next few of Kellan crack us up. We call them the "Many Faces of Kellan".
"Yo, Mom, what's happening?"
"Hellooooo Up There!"
"hmmmm I wonder what They are having for dinner?"
"uh huh. Someone needs to dust the ceiling fan."
"Whoa, Dude. I'm getting dizzy."
"Hip Hip Hooray, I'm feeling much better today!"
This series of photos may be the funniest because this is the next photo on the camera. The many faces of Kellan and then the one funny face of William. Cracks me up! He's such a character. Like anything, timing is everything.

We went to eat at a Fred's Mexican Cafe which had a fun atmosphere with a great view of the sunset. Just what we needed after a crazy 24 hours.
In all of the fun and excitement, Kellan's wandering fingers made their way to the chip bowl. We were always worried that chips were a choking hazard. Clearly, Kellan proved us wrong.
Lindsey and Carrie enjoying some fun fruity drinks.
Even Nana joined in on the fruity drink fun. 1 leaded and 2 unleaded for these ladies.
Since Kellan's wandering fingers helped themselves to the chips and he survived, we let him enjoy a few more. Ok, so really the table was so crowded that we couldn't keep them away so he just helped himself over and over again.
"Whoa baby, I have been missing out on this crunchy goodness!"
Once dinner came, Kellan's wandering fingers wandered a bit more, right only Mommy's dinner plate. It was all good until he took a BIG hand full of sour cream.
I suppose once you have kids your dinner plate is no longer a serving for one.

What a gorgeous evening to wind down a crazy day with yet another unfortunate event.
We ALL had a great time with the Fred's cut out by the front door. We had such a great time taking photos, especially Kellan. It was so nice to see him feeling better after a few rounds of antibiotics. I'm not sure who had more fun, us or the people watching us from their dinner table.
