Ringing in Two Years

Oliver is TWO!!! Ok, not until Wednesday, but we started celebrating this weekend. We had his birthday party this past Saturday and several of our friends with their kids were able to join us in the festivities. We were hoping to move the party outside if we had nice weather like last year, but it snowed and was in the 20's this year. I don't think it got above 30 degrees all day. Brrrrrrr!!!!

Just in the past few days Oliver is finally understanding that it is his birthday and he'll say, "My Birthday?!" He also loves the Happy Birthday song and will sing along. If you say to him, "Happy Birthday To You" he replies "To You". We love it. I'll try to get a video of it. I have two weeks to get it since this week is Oliver's birthday and next week is Keith's.

Last year, people thought I made the cupcakes that I paid $2 each for. This year I decided that nobody noticed that we had gourmet cupcakes last year, so I was going to make them myself. This year, people thought they looked so great that I bought them. What a compliment! Thanks to the box cake, canned frosting and coloring, the cupcakes were easy peezy and a big hit!

We had a table of snacks for on the go since I didn't think any of the kids would actually sit down to eat. The first thing they did was sit down to have a snack. I wonder, if I would have had healthier snacks, would they have been so interested or was it because we had bowls full of animal crackers and golf fish crackers?

This is the one picture of Oliver opening gifts. Once he got this one open he was completely distracted and his friends ended up opening almost everything else. He was happy, so it didn't really matter.
Even Parker joined in the festivities. Next year he'll be running with the big kids.
Oliver with his new collection of Dinosaurs, which were a HUGE hit with all of the kids.
Oliver working on some of his new puzzles.
The Hess family having story time.
Oliver is ready for cake. Notice he is carrying around all of the balloon's. Yes, he is a bit of a balloon hog.
Cake and Candle time!
I thought for sure this was a disaster waiting to happen, but it was a big success and no fire extinguishers were needed. There were plenty of candles for everyone to share in the excitement.

Oliver got a great building set from Julie and Alex. I'm not sure who enjoys it more, Oliver or Keith.Oliver showing off the airplane he built with Dad.

Can you hear the sound of the engine that Oliver is making?
(Note: Broncos game in the background where they beat New England in OT. They are 5-0, Go Broncos!)
Happy Birthday, Oliver!
We love you very much and are oh, so proud of you!!!

Happy Birthday Oliver! Such a big boy now! Connor has the same fishy book and he loves it. I think that's one of his favorites. Looks like he had a wonderful birthday, in spite of the cold weather. =)
