Since when did St Patrick's day become a holiday about trapping Leprechauns?
Since Oliver started pre-Kindergarten. His class last year had a trap, with no success. This year, he wanted one of his own. He and his Dad had all kinds of ideas on what would work and what wouldn't.
Plans were drawn.
A trap was built
Trap tests were performed
Hey, we caught us an Oliver Leprechaun
A pile of gold was attached to leur the Leprechaun.
Posed photos were taken with the Leprechaun trap.
The first morning, there was no Leprechaun to be found, but he left some of his green sprinkle magic and he dropped some of his candies.
The second morning was St Patrick's Day. Oliver was excited to check the trap, but he wanted Kellan to go with him. He went upstairs to get his brother and this is what I found.
Outside, he discovered that the trap had been tripped and there was something blowing in the wind.
Shiver me Timbers, we caught his britches and socks.
In the process, he dropped his wand and Oliver claimed it as his own.
We didn't catch the Leprechaun this year, but as Oliver exclaimed, "There is a Leprechaun running around with bare buns!" The trap was quite ingenious. Next year is going to be tough to beat it. I hope the Leprechaun is working on his trap-escaping skills. He's going to need all of the Luck of the Irish that he can get.
