Flag Football - Nearly the Super Bowl

To you, it may seem like this flag football season will never end.  To us, we don't want it to ever end.
It has been an amazing season.  All but one week we have had clear blue Colorado skies.  I'm convinced that our skies are a shade of blue like no other.  Maybe it's the thin air and the direct sunlight but whatever it is, I'll take it each and every day.  We have had such warm weather that us Mom's have been happy to work on a late season tan while we watch out boys play football and while the Dad's stretch out short season a few weeks longer.  On this day, it was particularly fantastic as the trees were changing colors and reminding us that winter was on it's way, even if Mother Nature wasn't quite ready for it.
Below: Eric, Patrick and Keith enjoying the fantastic fall day.
I'm not sure that these boys ever saw much football, but they definitely aced whatever games they played week after week.  Next year, the time in the suite for these boys will come to an end as we suite them up with flags and cleats.  It's hard to believe, but next fall they will be four and ready to rock the field.
In case there was any doubt in your mind that Kellan was quite comfortable with his masculinity, he has perfected the couch lounge pose.  I have brothers, I can say this.
This was the first game of the championship series.  There are two weeks of championship games, which Oliver calls the SUPER BOWL!

I don't have many photos from this week as I was busy on the sidelines working on a project with the boys for the coaches, but I did get to see Oliver run the ball in for a touchdown and pull a few flags while he was on defense.

In the second half, he had a great hand off to Owen H.
Oliver also had a great pass to Owen M.  Look close and you'll see the ball in the air.
Once again, Oliver had another great pass to Caleb.

The Dragons ended the game with another win.  Next week is the grand finale, championship game which Oliver likes to call the Super Bowl.  Until Then... GO DRAGONS!

Notre Dame vs Air Force

Nearly a year ago, Kristi informed us that we were all going to the Notre Dame vs Air Force game this fall.  How are we going to argue with tailgating, football and guaranteed family fun?  We met along the way where she gave the boys and I some Notre Dame gear and we were set.  Oh ya... Kristi is a Notre Dame alumni and slightly (heavy sarcasm) die hard about her football team.  Seriously, I've never seen such dedication to a football team as I have from Kristi.  It scares me sometimes, eek!

Kellan either wasn't as thrilled as the rest of the gang or he knew that he needed to rest up on the hour long drive to the game.
Once at the tailgate, Kellan was gloved up and ready to rock!
There was a lot of football to be had by the boys.  It was especially great for the short time that there was nobody parked behind us.
Our tailgate party and Colorado blue skies for as far as the eye could see.
The Dudes doing some grilling.
Just because it's tailgate, doesn't mean that we don't have our daily vegetables, even if they are in a Bloody Mary.
A tailgate isn't complete without Cold Coors Light by the Pint.
Carrire and Keith, ready for a great day!
The owner of the photographed Bloody Mary, Miss Kristi.
What tailgate would be complete without Corn Hole?
The boys LOVED it!!
Oliver, Owen and Kellan
The guys fired up the grill and some of their new favorite chicken wings.
Keith also made sure to represent his alma mater, CSU, even if the team was nowhere nearby.
Keith pointing out the Burnin' Love of his Chicken Wing.
For the kids, Hot Dogs!
Thumbs up for a good dog!
Corn Hole is dual purpose.  It serves as a game and a great lunch perch.
These Crazy Kids crack me up!
Kellan and Cole, throwing down some BIG CHEESE!
Kellan and Cole, Buddies!
When you are three, you can play Corn Hole from any angle or any distance.

You also have to look very close to make sure that the bean bag really did go in the hole as well as make sure it didn't jump up and run away.
The big boys recruited some neighbors to throw the football for them.  Those neighbors didn't have kids of their own and they weren't kids that long ago themselves.  It was a win win for everyone involved.
My favorite part, Oliver and his hotdog, which he never dropped once, even during a tuck and role on the ground.
Oliver delivered a successful interference for the catch.
This cutie pie will give me Cheese all day long.  I love it!
So... the port-a-potty line was 30 minutes long, no joke.
One HUGE advantage to having little boys is that you really don't have to bear that line when they have to pee, you just have to find a shady spot with a tire.  (shh... don't tell BMW that those performance tires are multi-purpose)
Keith wasn't the only one who didn't have the memo that he should wear Notre Dame attire, Patrick had the completely wrong league with his Broncos attire.  They are fun guys, so we'll keep them anyway.
There were plenty of Cool Dudes; this one was complete with shades and a Capri Sun.
The four boys having a snack on Corn Hole Hill.
The littlest Dudes: Cole, Owen, Oliver and Kellan.
GO NOTRE DAME!

As the tailgate was nearing the end, Cole was trying to get the beverage cooler to the stadium.  We like the way you think, little Dude!

It was Finally time to head in. Blue skies, football and a LONG line to wait in to get into the stadium.  It's a good thing that you can see the fly over from anywhere around.
Once in, the stadium was packed and ready to rock!
The party has arrived!

Hey Hey, The Gangs all here!
Kristi, Patrick, Cole, Owen (behind Cole :( ) Kellan, Keith, Oliver, Carrie)
The players took the field.
I caught this super sweet, completely candid moment of our two boys.
We sure do love these two and they really do love each other.
Oliver caught a glimpse of the camera.
At each touchdown by Notre Dame (and there were a lot), there were pushups to be had.  This time, it was Oliver's turn with Kristi and Keith.
24 Push Ups.. Ready, Set, GO!
Watching the game and trying to keep warm.
As the sun went down it was BBRRRR  Cold!

The final score was 45-10, Notre Dame.

Ra-Ra for the Fighting Irish!!

We had a GREAT time!
Thanks to Kristi for making it happen.  We loved each and every minute of it!!
