Back at the Beach!

On our first full day in Florida, the boys had basically exhausted every ounce of patience that they had in their little four and seven year old bodies.  It was official, they could no longer wait to get to the beach.  Once we checked into our rental place, we loaded up and headed to the beach.
Oliver was so excited that he couldn't stop smiling.  This worked well as we paused for a photo while we waited for Kellan and Daddy to catch up.
The long path to the beach can feel like the walk of a lifetime when you're anxious to see the Gulf of Mexico meet the white sand beaches of Siesta Key.
With the water in site, the walk picks up to a quick jog with a sand bucket at the ready.
All was perfect in the Oliver's world once he hit the beach.
There was not a single moment of hesitation from the boys before they headed out into the waves.
For Oliver, he remembers the beach well and he has a strong memory of our last visit to this beach when he was five years old.  For Kellan, it was like it was his first time as he didn't remember much from our last visit when he was two.

There is nothing like lounging in the warm waters of Siesta Key.

There is also nothing like relaxing on Siesta Key beach with the sun setting over the horizon.
Nothing but smiles from the Ham Fam.

The kids dove right in and LOVED it!

Look who joined the Ham Fam for a few days in Siesta Kay!
Laurie and John!!!
Keith, Oliver, Carrie, Kellan, Laurie and John loving dinner on our first night.
We promised Oliver shrimp on his first night at the beach.  Little did we know that the restaurant that we picked didn't really have a kid friendly shrimp dish.  When we asked the waiter he said that he could make something happen.
Not only did he make something happen, he made magic happen!  Oliver LOVED his dinner!!!  As he should.  It was his most expensive and fanciest dinner of the week.  Anything for our shrimp loving boy :)
Don't let his look fool you.  This is the "hurry and take the picture because I want to eat" look.
To keep up with our tradition of our last Siesta Key visit, we concluded dinner with Ice Cream.  The boys had been talking about ice cream for dessert for weeks!

As the evening was winding down, the boys began to relax as they ate their ice cream.  Before we knew it, it was time to hit the hay.
Day one at the beach was a huge hit!  WE were so excited that we had seven more days to go.
