Taking our Last Hurrah Over 14k Feet

Before the kids went back to school, Kristi and I took them for one last hurrah up more than 14,000 feet.  What we didn't expect to see if a Big Foot Xing.  Eek!

These boys weren't afraid of any such Big Foot.  It did prompt a nice debate on whether there really is such a thins as Big Foot... or not.

After a long and twisty drive up the mountain, we soared at more than 14,000 feet on top of Pikes Peak.

On the way up the mountain, we read that there were world famous donuts up top.  So, we had to check these donuts out.

We took the donuts outside to enjoy the view and to fully enjoy these World Famous Donuts.

The views from the top were gorgeous!  It made me want to hike another 14er... someday.

After some time at the the top, it was time to head back down.  Heading down, we took a few photos.  Yikes!

The boys may have been told that they had to stay calm and quiet since the driver had to concentrate.

On our way down the mountain, there was a great lake that was begging us to stop and dip our toes in.

On the way home, we drove right past Garden of the Gods, so we stopped to check it out.

Cole, Kellan Oliver and Owen may have been almost over being tourists and photos, but they stopped for one more.

Where appropriate, we let the boys give rock climbing a try.

After a great day of touring some famous and unbelievable Colorado landscapes, we decided to go out with a bang and we stopped at a hibachi grill.  Plus, these Mamas earned a relaxing dinner.

For added flair, our chef photo bombed us.

After a fantastic day, Kellan was all chop sticks.

What an awesome last hurrah before school stars in a few weeks.  We ALL Loved It!

Hamilton Fly By

This summer, Keith's parents decided to move from Wyoming to Texas full time after splitting their time between the two locations for the past few years.  On their way down, they stopped at our house for the night and then the next day, Keith jumped in the U-haul with his brother Brian to drive to Texas.  Before they pulled out that U-haul, Keith unloaded the Walker mower and moved it into the Ham Fam garage.  He's has been salivating over a lawn mower like this since the dawn of time.  Finally, his lawn mowing dreams have come true.

You know we love watermelon in the summertime, so we had to have watermelon for our dinner party.

Once the kids discovered that there was a huge bowl of watermelon, they stretched with all of their might to get their little hands on some.  You also may notice that Danielle came back up for another evening with the Ham Fam.  We loved having her and her girls join us again.

Since we only had a few hours to live up our evening with the family, we headed over to the pool for an evening dip.  This was the first time that we have ever been to the pool after the sun went down and the kids LOVED it!

It was a super quick stop but we loved having everyone here.  When we bought this house we envisioned having many many house guests and dinner parties.  It's so much fun to see it all going to fruition.  We love it!
