Tiny Tunas

Saturday, Oliver started up the Tiny Tunas swim lessons.  It was his first time by himself, outside of the parent and tot swim lessons.  He's been getting more confident in the water, which helps.  He also signed up with his friend Cadence, which was a HUGE help.  Cadence and Oliver just happened to be in the same parent and tot class last year so we coordinated to be in the same class this year.  They have been together since they were both infants at Primrose.

After they called off the class, Oliver and Cadence headed off hand in hand.
There were suppose to be four Tiny Tunas but only two were there, Oliver and Cadence.
Here, the instructor AJ is trying to talk Oliver and Cadence into jumping in the pool.
You can see that they finally jumped in and the pool isn't very deep.  Here they are blowing bubbles and the turtle (orange bucket) is blowing bubbles back.
Swimming around, or stopping to giggle.  Either way, they're getting used to swimming on their own.

Here they are racing to the edge of the water.
Toward the end of the lesson they were racing each other around the pool with pool rings for steering wheels.  It was very cute and Oliver did great but I didn't get any pictures.  Oops, the Mommies may have been having too much fun chatting.
Oliver and Cadence kicking on the side of the pool.
These two had an absolute blast and 30 minutes flew by.  They giggled and giggled the whole time.  At the end of the lesson their instructor AJ said they were a lot of fun and very funny kids.
Toward the end of the lesson they got to go down the slide.
Weeee!!!
Having Fun!
These two have a few more weeks of lessons.  I'm excited to watch them grow as Tiny Tunas.

Movie Date

Recently, Mommy and Daddy went for a date night.  The next week, Mommy picked Oliver up from school early because it was his turn for a date night with Mommy.  Just the two of us went to see Cars 2.
Our movie date was complete with a kids snack pack and a couple of ICEE drinks.
If you know Oliver you know he is all business when he's soaking in what's going on around me.  Sometime during the previews he reached over, grabbed my arm and gave me a big smile.  He was having a great time.

Sunday Evening

Sometimes the best way to wind down the weekend is with dinner and a bike ride.
Often times the dinner of choice with Oilver and Kellan is Red Robin, YUM!

Oliver and Keith having fun.
Kellan and Mommy ready for dinner to arrive.
After dinner we went home and took a stroll around the hood while Oliver worked on his Stryder skills.  We haven't been very good about getting him out on his bike and now that he has rediscovered it, he LOVES riding his bike.  We quickly noticed that the seat was a bit short.  I'm completely convinced that he is going through a growth spurt.
So, we headed back to the garage to get a wrench.
Ahhh... much better!!  Plus, we moved our walk to the street so he wasn't fighting against the angled sidewalk.
Oliver and Kellan racing.  Who will win?
In the last stretch before getting back to our house.

I had to add this photo of Kellan on Monday morning, lounging in his car seat, waiting for his Sherpa to usher him to his luxury sleigh.  I'm thinking it may be time to consider a new car seat since he is literally busting out of this one.

Even Firemen Need Rescued

One huge advantage to having a second kiddo is that he gets to use everything from the first kiddo.  This is Kellan on Oliver's firetruck that Oliver got for his first birthday.  Kellan is crawling on his knees and feet as well as pulling up on nearly everything.  We thought we would crack out some of Oliver's walking toys to help him along.  He isn't quite walking with the firetruck yet, but he does enjoy pushing it around and riding it now and then.
Here is a little video clip on Kellan on the firetruck.  You may also hear Oliver in the background asking for a dog (there was one on TV).  Unfortunately, he's allergic to dogs and cats so Madalyn is the last house pet for this family.
Then, not long after the fireman was riding his truck, he needed rescued himself.  He often finds himself in precarious situations with his new found crawling and pulling up skills.  This particular time he had to wait an extra moment so I could get a picture.  He couldn't figure out how to get himself out of this mess so he needed a little bit of Mamas help.

While Mom is Away the Smacker Comes Out to Play

Tonight was a guys only night at the Hamilton house while Mom was away playing golf.  Once again, Oliver provided a knee slapping funny moment.  It may be funnier when we experience it or when Keith tells the story but to us, it's hilarious.

Oliver in an exuberant whisper: I need the smacker!
Dad: What??
Oliver in an exuberant whisper: I need the smacker!
Dad: What are you talking about?
Oliver pointing at the table and in an exuberant whisper: A fly has landed.
Dad retrieved the bright pink fly swatter (clearly, the smacker) for Oliver and gave it to him.
Dad: Oliver, I'm going upstairs to put Kellan to bed.  Here's the smacker.  Go get 'em.
Several moments later Oliver appears in Kellan's doorway with the smacker in hand.  A fly was crawling on the end of the smacker.  Somehow Oliver had disabled the fly's flying ability but it was still alive and walking on the end of the smacker.
Dad: Smack It!
Oliver swatted the fly on the floor but it was still alive so Oliver pushed the top of the fly swatter with his two thumbs.
Dad: Go get a tissue and put it in the trash.
Oliver proceeded to discard the fly and reappeared in Kellan's doorway.
Oliver: Daddy, the fly has gone home to his friends.

The Birds and the Bees at Three

This is a real conversation that happened after dinner tonight.  It made us laugh and we just had to have it documented.

Oliver: Daddy's don't have babies.
Mommy: Sure they do.
Oliver: No they don't.
Mommy: Says who?
Oliver: Quinn.
Mommy: Daddy has a baby, doesn't he?  He has Kellan.
Daddy: Someday, you'll have babies and you'll be telling them to eat their dinner.
Oliver: I want a baby.
Mommy: Ok.
Oliver: I want a baby in my belly.
Mommy: Daddy's don't have babies in their belly, only Mommy's.
Oliver giving a very confused look.
Mommy: Some Daddy's look like they have babies in their bellies but they just ate too much.
Daddy: Like Uncle Jeff.
Oliver, with a very sad voice: But I WANT a baby in my belly.

End of conversation, Mommy and Daddy walked away giggling.

When is it too early to explain the birds and the bees?  I'm three is not the time.

Mystery Sprinkler

Kellan is such an adventurous guy, even in the bath tub.
Sometimes, he is so focused on what he's doing, even the camera doesn't get a smile.
Then, the mystery sprinkler kicked in.  Yes, as Kellan was perched up in search of toys, he peed in the tub.  He noticed the splashing water and then he proceeded to splash himself.
"Hey Mom, I'm ready to get out".

Date Night

This past Saturday Keith and I went on a date night.  Our first in many many months and it was LONG over due.
We kicked it off at an old favorite, Stellas Trattoria in Highlands.  We hadn't been there since my 31st birthday when I was pregnant with Oliver.
Here we are at the bar in the back.  We had NO idea there was a bar back there.  Clearly, not many people do since it was just us and one other couple.  Everyone else was huddled around the front door waiting for a table.
At our table, ready for dinner.
After dinner we went downtown to LoDo's.  We hadn't been there in an eternity either.  We had a great seat upstairs on the deck near the railing with a great view of the street down below.  Without a doubt, there was great people watching.
After scoping out our options from the rooftop, we opted to go to the Cowboy Lounge next.  It was a great choice.  For the next few hours we danced the night away.  It was SO FUN!  Keith's favorite line of the night was when I yelled out "8th grade flash back" when the song "Pour Some Sugar on Me" came on.  Ahh... some songs are just classic.
After a great time of a little country swing dancing followed by 8th grade flash backs, we headed home.  Larimer Square always does a great job of decorating and this weekend was no exception.

Stack Time

This past weekend we got to see the Stack's twice within a 24 hours period.  Once upon a time, this wasn't unusual.  Lately, this is rare.  On Friday night, the boys and I went to their house for some dinner and catching up.  Keith had other plans, so it was just the three of us with the three of them.  Everyone had a great time.
Kellan, Oliver and Parker pausing for a very quick photo.
Toward the end of the evening, Kellan just wanted his bottle and he was probably wishing he was in bed.  He just couldn't get any peace and quiet with the other two monkeys jumping around.

"Seriously people, can't a kid get a quiet bottle break now and then?"
To keep the kids entertained, this was "arms and legs in the air".
Eventually, Kellan gave up laying down with his bottle and he sat up to watch the jumping monkey show.
Kellan: "Dude, before you know it I'm going to be bigger than you.  You may want to watch who you're pushing around."
Parker: "Hey, I saw this move on the karate kid.  Let's see if I can reenact it".
Parker and Oliver went running off around the corner and Kellan finally got a few minutes to himself.
Parker is a very loving little boy and he loved giving Kellan big bear hugs.
Craig and Jen with all three jumping monkeys.  I think Kellan is still dreaming of his bed.
Oliver and Parker climbing up the Craig tree.
The next morning, the boys were up early and we thought we would go out to breakfast.  We tried our luck and as luck would have it the Stack's were up for breakfast too.  We all met at 8:00 at Cafe Terra Cotta in downtown Littleton.
Shortly after we sat down I noticed that Parker was pulling his pants down.  This reminded Jen that Parker was excited to show Oliver his pull-ups.  Parker is working on potty training and he is very excited about his big boy developments.  Way to go, Parker!
After breakfast we were enjoying our coffee on the patio and the boys were getting a bit restless so they got down to hunt for bugs.
Parker likes to turn over every stone, or stone rabbit in this case to look for bugs.
Under the rabbit they found a very long and skinny worm.  EWWW!!!
After breakfast we took a stroll down the street.  Oliver had his squishy alligator and he let Parker pack around his squishy lizard.

The boys with their squishy friends.
Since it was such a nice morning, we convinced each other that we should go to the park instead of heading off to do responsible things like household chores.  This park was great and came complete with playground equipment, a sand box and a water feature.  Jen told me they wouldn't get too wet.  Oliver was soaked when we were done and got to ride home nearly naked.  The good times of summer!
Oliver waiting for the water to sprout.
The Dad's may have looked like they were just hanging out on a swing, but they were actually on Kellan duty.  He was sound asleep in the car so we left it running with the AC on.   We didn't want to get too far away.
Parker waited and waited for water to come out of this spout and it never did, for him.

The boys moved over to the swings for a while.
Oliver perched upon the spout that Parker was waiting on and he struck H20!
This is Oliver trying to push the button so that Craig would get a shower.
Craig may have helped out a bit and then he and Keith waited in the dry spot under the water fall until it was done.  Tricky, tricky!

Thanks for a great visit Stack family!
